PowerColor Fighter Radeon RX 6600, 8GB GDDR6, HDMI, 3x DP

Now when it comes to pricing, the market is completely out of control still frankly. The RX 6600 has a suggested price of $329 which is the same price as the RTX 3060 launched at. If the market wasn’t completely jacked up, I would say that is a little high given that the 3060 is a faster card. But right now, I’m more concerned that most buyers won’t be able to find the 6600 even at that price. Compared to the prices things are going right now, that price isn’t too bad and while we won’t know for sure until cards go up for sale today (I’m writing this before the launch obviously) but I’m expecting that the PowerColor RX 6600 Fighter be PowerColor’s $329 card given its basic design and reference clock speeds. If you are aiming to game at 1080p and get the chance to get a card. This wouldn’t be a bad pick up.

Whether the RX 6600 should be on your shopping list is very much a matter of knowing what you've currently got and if you could stretch your budget a little further. In performance terms the RX 6600 is very close to the Nvidia RTX 2060 which is great for the money, and if you've got anything older than that you will be pleased by what the RX 6600 can bring to the table. We know that the old 'if I spent x more I could' game is dangerous when you're on a tight budget, but if you can stretch to the RX 6600 XT then the performance gains are clear to see. If you can't though and have to have a card around the £300 mark that will bring you an excellent 1080P experience and a very good 1440 one then the RX 6600 is a great choice and wins our OC3D Gamers Choice Award.

In this review, we tested the PowerColor RX 6600 Fighter, which is a bare minimum implementation of the RX 6600. Looking at the other designs that were announced, it seems there's serious pricing pressure on the AIBs to come up with the most basic cards to maximize margins, or even perhaps be able to hit targeted price points. Either way, most board partners have decided not to send out samples for the RX 6600, which is why we only have one review for you today, instead of the usual four or five. Why should they even bother with reviews? They'll sell everything anyway, and reviews have a chance of uncovering issues with the product, especially on these cost-down designs with simple coolers.
