It's still a rare occasion when we get a 4TB SSD in for review, so we are delighted to put Acer's updated 4TB powerhouse through its paces.

The Predator GM7000 4TB drive is currently $450 on Amazon. There are not a lot of high-performance Gen4 4TB SSDs on the market, but $450 is a similar price to the WD Black SN850X 4TB, and is a lower price than the Seagate FireCuda 530 or Sabrent’s Rocket 4 Plus at the same capacity point.

The Predator GM7 1TB drive is not yet for sale. I was told the MSRP for the 1TB drive will be just under $90, with the 512GB coming in at $50 and the 2TB at $160. I was told that pricing back in January, so I do not know if it will actually release at those price points.

We might be pretty confident that if you had shown any expert in the industry the results in this report, there is no way any would have believed the Acer Predator GM7 to be a DRAMless SSD. Not only is this the first time we have seen a DRAMless SSD come anywhere near this performance, but also, this is perhaps the coolest running SSD we have had on the bench to date. It is the first example of a 232-layer NAND SSD running at 2400MT/s. Testing was done without a heatsink whatsoever and this was pretty much reminiscent of Gen 3 days before heatsinks became mainstream. Huge comps to both Maxiotek and YMTC for such a great accomplishment. To be certain, the Acer Predator GM7 reached throughput highs of 7.1GB/s read and 6.6GB/s write with just under a million read and write IOPS. It came in with the best scores we have ever seen in our true data testing regimen, as well as showing itself as the quickest game loading SSD to date. Low random reads were just under that magical 100MB/s and well above 300MB/s write throughput which is amazing. The Acer Predator GM7 comes with a 5-year warranty, complimentary Acronis True Image and its pricing is just about the best you will find for an SSD of this caliber.

The 1TB Acer Predator GM7 is a fast and extremely efficient PCIe 4.0 SSD. It’s not the fastest drive on the market, but it brings high-end performance at a lower price point. Its design also makes it an excellent choice for laptops.
