Although the Asus TUF Gaming B650-Plus WiFi is designed for the casual gamer and first-time builder, it offers an amazing set of features with performance to match. Utilizing AMD’s B650 chipset, it’s suitable for all the latest Ryzen 7000 series of processors, and supports DDR5 ram with speeds of up to DDR5-6400 OC+, AMD EXPO memory profiles, as well as some mild overclocking. However, it does lack some of the enthusiast features found on the higher-end X670E motherboards. Still, it’s worthy to note that the Asus TUF Gaming B650-Plus WiFi does come with plenty of decent features from Asus’s TUF Gaming series of motherboards.

If you want to build a cheaper desktop PC with an AMD Ryzen 7000 processor, I recommend the ASUS TUF Gaming B650-Plus WiFi motherboard. I am pleased with my findings. The cheaper AMD B650 chipset gives the ASUS TUF Gaming B650-Plus WiFi a lot of potential as a motherboard. It supports PCI Express 5.0 and PCI Express 4.0, has many ports, and a reliable VRM. Like all other TUF products, the ASUS TUF Gaming B650-Plus WiFi appears well-made, and its parts are of good quality. I think any gamer looking to create a new desktop PC around an AMD Ryzen 7000 processor should at least consider this motherboard, especially considering its pricing, which is lower than what manufacturers seek for motherboards based on high-end chipsets. It packs all I would need, from triple NVMe (all heatsink cooled), then 4x SATA, proper USB 3.2 connections including one 3.2 2x2, proper DDR5 EXPO support, and an ecosystem that breathes PCIe Gen 4.0 with one NVMe SSD even PCIe Gen 5.0. This is all plenty, even at enthusiast levels by today's standards. The vast majority of budget-conscious do-it-yourselfers should consider the B650 chipset. Compared to the X670(E), it lacks Gen 5.0 graphics slots, and the number of IO (USB 3.2) is halved. In a nutshell, that is it. This TUF is a worthy foundation for a high-performance work machine in its price range. Currently, it's priced a bit on the high side at 250 USD/EUR. That's still a lot of money but far more value for money than anything with an X670 chipset.

Insgesamt können wir das ASUS TUF GAMING B650M-PLUS sowohl für Gaming-PCs und Workstations empfehlen. Positiv hervorzuheben ist die Spannungsversorgung, welche auch für einen RYZEN 9 7950X ausreichend ist. Dazu kommt, dass die Kühler der Spannungsversorgung gut dimensioniert sind und durch ihren Aufbau auch ausreichend Kühlfläche bieten. Gut finden wir auch, dass der obere M.2-Slot PCIe 5.0 bereitstellen kann. Wer sich einen PCIe 5.0 x16 Slot wünscht, wird leider beim ASUS TUF GAMING B650M-PLUS enttäuscht, da nur PCIe 4.0 vorhanden ist. Nicht so gut finden wir, dass der USB-Type-C-Anschluss für das Frontpanel nur mit USB 3.2 Gen1 (5GBit) angebunden ist. Auch vermissen wir zwei weitere USB 3.2 Gen2 Anschlüsse am Backpanel. Insgesamt stehen uns nur zwei USB 3.2 Gen2 und ein USB 3.2 Gen2x2 zur Verfügung. Zum Schluss möchten wir noch den vorhandenen Flashback-Taster hervorheben mit dem es möglich ist ein BIOS-Update durchzuführen, ohne das eine kompatible CPU verbaut ist. Dadurch können in Zukunft auch neuere CPUs verbaut werden, falls ein neueres BIOS notwendig ist.
