ASUS ZenFone 8

The Asus ZenFone 8 forgoes the signature motorised camera, and instead boasts strong core features for a very competitive price.

There is no denying that Asus has packed as much hardware as it could into a small and ergonomic box. Sure, some of the myriad software features are underbaked, overwhelming, or even bothersome sometimes — warnings about app power consumption are a prime example. Perhaps some of that cruft should be cut out, but it's easily ignored or turned off. When you settle into the Zenfone 8, the end result is a fluid experience with plenty of utility and lots of lasting power to boot.

The ZenFone 8 delivers flagship-level build quality and performance in a small package

Asus made a deal with the devil in order to pull off the small-sized Zenfone 8. It falls short in a few important places, but this compact flagship offers almost all the power and features of a modern flagship.

You can still get that camera in the limited-release Asus Zenfone 8 Flip, but the regular Zenfone 8 delivers top-tier specs at the most affordable price since the OnePlus 6T.

The Zenfone 8 is a compact, powerful phone. WIth its top-tier specs and decent camera performance, it punches well above its weight, especially given this price point.

A solid Google Pixel 5 rival with more powerful performance, but sadly limited battery life.

ASUS provided AndroidHeadlines with a review unit of the Zenfone 8. We’ve been using it for about a month, before starting to write this review.

ASUS's first shot at a compact Android flagship is one of the best small, high-end phones you can buy. Between its fast performance, two capable cameras, and a pocket-friendly form factor, this is a fantastic overall package. But you may be waiting longer for Android OS updates, and there's no wireless charging.
