Be Quiet! obviously designed and marketed the Dark Power Pro 12 as a prime example of their brand name – a halo product, a testament of the company’s ability to design and produce top-tier units. And while the company isn't looking to name competitors, Be Quiet! is clearly taking a shot at Corsair and their fully digital AX1600i, a design that many (ourselves included) consider to be the best consumer PSU ever made. To go against the AX1600i is a very ambitious and respectable move, especially considering that only a handful of companies have ever tried.

We know for a fact that not all PSUs rated for 1500+ W are capable of delivering that for extreme overclocking purposes. We’re pleased to report that the be quiet! Dark Power Pro 12 1500 W did exactly what it was supposed to do and more. First and foremost, it was capable of delivering its rated power. Not only did it deliver a whopping 1500 W, but it managed to do that through the 24-pin and two 8-pin EPS connectors only. Without a doubt, there is no other worst-case scenario the PSU can experience under normal operating conditions. Not only did it meet the expectation of 1500 W, but as you have seen in the video above, it delivered a total of 1597 W and never complained. Based on our test, we confirmed the single-rail mode works exactly how it’s intended to. If you’re an overclocker with big power demands, we feel confident in saying be quiet!’s flagship offering is up to the challenge.

The be quiet! Dark Power Pro 1500 W is a high-performance power supply, among the best in the very high wattage category. It uses a new CWT platform of high build quality, one capable of dealing with harsh conditions well. It comes with tons of connectors. Only two of these are EPS connectors, however, which seems to be the new trend, and since be quiet! also builds cases, cable configuration is excellent—this PSU won't have any compatibility issues with large full-tower cases.

Regardless, what we have been able to measure here today is very impressive. The PSU was designed from the ground up to deliver as clean and stable possible current towards your PC real estate. We have no comments whatsoever that could even be negative. You'll obviously also read other reviews that can tell you a bit more about ripple and sich. I suspect it's clear skies for be quiet! to be honest. It's not just clean, efficient and stability that matters to brand owner Listan, aesthetics matter as well. You'll receive properly sleeved cables (I always refer to these as spaghetti), with small plastic combs to organize them. Now, not everybody respects sleeved cables, as it's a lot of them to route throughout your PC. But that's a personal preference of course.
