Today we're looking at Cooler Master's V850 SFX Gold, which represents a more budget-friendly option in the SFX power supply market compared to their previously reviewed V1100 SFX Platinum. The SFX Gold series includes four models, ranging from 550W to 850W, with the 850W unit that we are reviewing today being the most potent. This 850-Watt power supply carries an 80 Plus Gold certification and is designed for high-performance gaming and workstation builds. As the top-tier model in the SFX Gold series, it offers substantial power output for an SFX unit and maintains ATX 3.0 compliance, including a 12VHPWR connector in a compact SFX format.

It’s certainly been a very busy spell for Cooler Master and particularly with their power supplies as we have seen the company launch two separate model series within just the last few weeks. With those being designed for ‘full-sized’ systems, however, you have been a little frustrated at your lack of options for more space-sensitive systems. Fret ye not though! If you need a new power supply for your compact PC, the V750 SFX Gold might just be the perfect solution for you.

Mit der von uns getesteten 650W Version lassen sich Leistungshungrige Systeme problemlos befeuern. Dank guter Effizienz verbleibt das Netzteil, auch unter hoher Last, erstaunlich leise.

This has been my first go around with a SFX power supply. And honestly, other than the size nothing was really different. They work the same and provide you with exactly what you would expect from a power supply. Even with this particular model, you get the hybrid fan function. The only difference was shorter cables so, keep that in mind if you utilize the ATX adapter plate and use this in a Full Tower Chassis. I absolutely love everything that has RGB. I even have RGB on a power supply that you can’t even see because its behind a cover, but at least I know its there, right? You honestly only need a power supply to provide power and most of the time you cant even see them in a case. So I am glad Cooler Master kept it simple and saved us some money by leaving the RGB off. Because these SFX power supplies are going to run you a little more than a ATX power supply. Doing build after build the last thing I want to see is more wires and yes it wont be long before a bunch of power supplies have ARGB lights that are going to require us to plug in header. Ok, enough of the rant. This power supply is a 650W (V650 SFX) which handled my 2080 Super just fine. They even have a 850W model and that will be able to handle the new Nvidia 3090 or AMD RX 6900XT perfectly! So to finish the review up, I am still shocked I can get this much power of such a small power supply. The power supply performed just fine while pushing a 2080 Super and an i5 8600K.
