Macht eine Wasserkühlung für eine SSD Sinn? Im Nachgang zum ausführlichen Test der neuen MP600 Pro von Corsair wollen wir uns noch dieser Frage widmen, denn neben der Core- und Pro-Variante mit dem obligatorischen Luftkühler bietet Corsair das aktuell schnellste SSD-Modell aus eigenem Hause auch mit einem vorinstallierten Wasserkühler an. Ob und wann dies Sinn macht, schauen wir uns nun an.

Whenever people are looking to buy a new drive the factors usually come down to capacity and speed. We look at our budget and then decide what the biggest, fastest drive we can afford is. That's a large reason why manufacturers use the headline grabbing sequential speeds to advertise their drives. Certainly if absolute pace is the only thing you care about then the Corsair MP600 Pro will keep you satisfied, assuming you have a PCI Express 4.0 setup available to make the most of it. Any time a drive can pass the magical 7 GB/s marker it has to make you sit up and take notice, and the Phison E18 controller is rightfully finding itself at the heart of a lot of the fastest drives we've reviewed. However, dig a little deeper and the MP600 Pro shines even brighter. Away from the Sequential read and write tests which give those flashy headline numbers, the MP600 Pro is hugely impressive in the smaller block sizes too. No matter what your intended use it is more common to be writing lots of small files than one big one. This is particularly true if you're using the Corsair as an OS drive, with all the background elements that shuffle data around constantly. You only need to look at your system tray or task manager to know how much is going on even when you're idle on the desktop, and the high IOPS (Input/output Operations Per Second) of the newest addition to the Corsair range shines here. Where we think it scores over the Sabrent Rocket 4 Plus - the most recent Phison E18 drive we've reviewed - is in the consistency of that performance over lengthy writes. The supplied heatsink keeps the temperatures below 80°C even when the drive is being stressed to the limits, and whilst the Sabrent dropped to 77MB/s when its cache was flooded and the drive full, the Corsair MP600 Pro kept rocking along at over 1GB/s. For the consistency of the performance in more real world usage scenarios the Corsair MP600 Pro Gen4 2TB wins our OC3D Performance Award.

Though not the champion performer, we see enough merit in the Corsair MP600 Pro line for it to be in the mix when speccing up that ultimate PC upgrade, especially if on a deal.

Waren zwar alle zuerst erhältlichen PCIe4-SSDs mit dem Phison E16-Controller ausgestattet, konnte sich die Corsair-SSD vor allem durch ihren stylischen und effektiven Kühler beweisen. Jetzt, immerhin zwei Jahre später, schickt der Speicherspezialisten den selben Kühler wieder ins Rennen. Zusammen mit dem neuem Phison E18-Controller als Facelift und als neu benannte "Pro"-Version. Ob sich das Upgrade lohnt, klären wir wie gewohnt mit unserem Test.

Die NVMe-SSD Corsair MP600 Pro setzt auf die zweite Generation PCIe-4.0-Controller von Phison und TLC-NAND. Im Test ist das Laufwerk nicht nur im SLC-Betrieb flink, sondern stellt die MP600 insbesondere im TLC-Schreibbetrieb weit in den Schatten. Mehrere hundert GB große Dateitransfers sind so kein Problem.

It’s no secret that Gen 4 drives have the potential to be incredibly fast, and it’s safe to say that the new Corsair MP600 PRO 2TB is one of the fastest of that bunch! You are paying a premium for it, but Corsair say the drive will do up to 7000 MB/s read and 6550 MB/s write. I didn’t hit the max speed on read, but it’s unlikely many systems well if I’m honest. However, I was able to get around 6300-6400 MB/s fairly consistently. That’s still more than 10x faster than the best SATA III drives, it’s certainly no slouch.

The Corsair MP600 Pro is an M.2 SSD aimed at delivering high performance. While it looks near identical to the Corsair MP600 Core, the Pro leverages TLC NAND versus the Core’s QLC for higher performance and good endurance. The drive comes with quoted speeds of 7GB/s read and 6.55GB/s write and in capacities of 1TB and 2TB. There is also a liquid-cooled, Hydro X version for those that need optimal performance over time.
