Crucial T705, M.2

Die Crucial T705 ist derzeitig im Preisvergleich für 390,90 € gelistet. Dafür erhält der Käufer eine pfeilschnelle PCIe 5.0 M.2 SSD, die mit ihren neuen TLC-NANDs in Sachen Geschwindigkeit noch mal einen draufsetzt. Ob sich diese hohe Geschwindigkeit im Alltag als Vorteil erweist wird die Zeit zeigen. Um diese Geschwindigkeit aber auch nutzen zu können ist zwingend ein Kühlkörper erforderlich

Extremely fast PCIe 5.0 SSD! Today we are testing the new M.2 NVMe SSD T705 from Crucial on OCinside.de and want to see if it can also convince in practice.

Just like with its smaller capacity brother the 4TB variant of the T705 did extremely well across the board in terms of read & write performance. It might not have been able to produce stable reads and writes at its maximum advertised performance but the same applies for most drives out there so that’s nothing new. Of course, the primary reason behind this are the high temperatures this drive reached (especially during the IOMeter tests) even though it does come with a large heatsink. At 2400TBW endurance/durability for the T705 4TB is also very good and at least for me (and most people I'd expect) this is very important.

In unseren Tests haben wir die Crucial T705 einer Reihe von internen Solid-State-Drive-Benchmarks unterzogen, ebenso wie externen Tools, darunter CrystalDiskMark, PCMark 10 Storage und dem 3DMark Storage Benchmark, der die Leistung eines Laufwerks bei verschiedenen spielebezogenen Aufgaben misst. Zur Leistungsanalyse haben wir das Crucial-Laufwerk mit anderen 5.0-SSDs sowie einer Auswahl an PCI Express 4.0-SSDs verglichen, die bereits auf unserem neuen PCI-Express-5.0-Testsystem getestet wurden.

The original launch of the Crucial T700 was exciting, we don’t get to see huge generational jumps in performance all that often but the move to PCIe 5.0 did just that but like with most new launches there were downsides as well. Crucial’s second PCIe 5.0 offering took what they started with the T700 and improved on it. The pure sequential performance we saw with the T700 is now even faster with the T705 and with performance in the 14k+ read speed range, it is more than twice as fast as the PCIe 4.0 drives. Where the T705 improved on things though were in the IOPS tests which really helped bring the T705 up in the compilation tests like PassMark. The RND4K Q32T1 IOPS test in CrystalDiskMark being the one exception. Real-world performance was once again really good, topping our charts and for most people, those tests best represent what you will see day to day. It does still have issues in the queue depth testing, similar to what we saw on the T700 previously.

In unseren Augen könnt ihr hier die Füße stillhalten. Die T700 ist nach wie vor ein pfeilschnelles Laufwerk und in der Praxis ist der Vorsprung der T705 zwar vorhanden, überwiegend aber nicht eklatant.
