    tomshardware.com: G.Skill Trident Z5 RGB DDR5-7200 C34 Review: Bringing That A-Die Flavor (translate)
    Testbewertung:
    Testbewertung: 80
    Originalwertung: 4/5

The Trident Z5 RGB DDR5-7200 C34 offers slightly better overall performance than the T-Force Delta RGB DDR5-7200 C34. The overclocking potential was similar on both memory kits, which was expected since the two employ practically the same SK hynix A-die ICs. Unfortunately, there is a bit of a lottery to the quality of the ICs. We managed to push the memory to DDR5-7600, but your overclocking mileage will likely vary. But one thing is certain: A-die is currently the best DDR5 IC for hitting high frequencies. G.Skill sells the Trident Z5 RGB DDR5-7200 C34 for $234.99 (opens in new tab). Its direct competitor, the T-Force Delta RGB DDR5-7200 C34, retails for $214.99 (opens in new tab). At the current pricing, there's a noticeable difference. However, that doesn't take away the fact that G.Skill's memory kit is the faster of the two memory kits. The Trident Z5 RGB DDR5-7200 C34 is the way to go if you want pure performance. Aesthetics, as usual, are subjective, and brand loyalty also plays a role in the purchase decision.

    nikktech.com: G.SKILL Trident Z5 RGB 32GB DDR5 7200MHz CL34 Dual-Channel Kit Review (translate)

G.SKILL has been behind some of the best RAM kits to hit the market as far back as I can remember and the Trident Z5 RGB 7200MHz CL34 Dual-Channel Kit is no exception. Stock performance is very good and as for overclocking headroom 8GHz at 1.45V is a great result, especially with these timings (since from this review i moved from the Radeon RX 7900 XT i've been using to the GeForce RTX 4070 i also added Achieved FPS in my Forza Horizon 5 charts). Being able to choose between 3 dozen or so kits available in black, white and silver color (alas not all of them) is also a great thing G.SKILL has going for their Trident Z5 RGB line. Now if i had to nitpick my sole concern would be that this kit is only XMP 3.0 compatible so it may not be ideal for AMD systems (EXPO) but i did test it on my X670E Taichi/Ryzen 7900X rig and it worked without issue (still that might not be the case with every motherboard out there).

The modern DDR5 standard is off to a rocky start. It’s not because of its performance, but like so much of 2021's tech it's down to supply and demand. So much so that a kit like the G.Skill Trident Z5 RGB DDR5-6000 we’re reviewing here is out of stock everywhere. We know from vendor contacts that it won’t always be like that, with stock levels gradually increasing from January onwards. So, rather than rant about supply and demand issues, we’ll focus on the kit itself as we know that once stocks are available, people will be looking for analysis of the kit, and not outdated rants about availability from a particular point in time.

    guru3d.com: DDR5 scaling with G.Skill TridentZ5 6000 CL36 review (translate)

In this review of the most excellent TridentZ5 kit from G.Skill we wanted to show you the effect of frequency and performance scaling. Our initial DDR4 versus DDR5 memory already showed that a CL16 DDR4 kit at 3600 MHz, easily can compete with DDR5 5200 CL40. Both configurations are considered the sweet spot memories in combination with Alder Lake Gen 12 Core Intel processors. I call that a sweet spot due to pricing and overall performance, nothing less. If you are willing to spend more money on DDR5 then latency is where it's matters, really it's pandora's box as this article should have learned you that CL36 at 5200 MHZ is definitely faster than CL40 at 5200 MHz. When you have CL36 memory, then frequency really is starting to become irrelevant as long as you stay above 4800 MHz. Yes, there is a tangible per differential in between 4800 and 6000 MHz, however, the price differential will make a rather too big of a difference for me. So in short, latency matters more than frequency, by a significant statistical value even. This does bring back the discussion of how relevant DDR5 memory actually is over DDR4. However strictly speaking if we take an RTX 3090 and look at gaming, we can measure tangible result scaling upwards in frequency, and most definitely latency. DDR5 is the way forward, there's no doubt about it, in due time frequencies will go up and latency values will come down. And that last bit is somewhat the bigger part of the riddle, as latency is quite high with DDR5.

guru3d.com: DDR5 Memory Scaling with G.Skill TridentZ5 6400 CL32 review - 8x BIG and 8x Little but what memory frequency and latency? (translate)

G.Skill does have a really outstanding CL32 memory kit available with the TridentZ5, at 6400 MHz, this memory kicks ass, however, the 550 EUR price tag makes it difficult to justify a purchase. You get DIMMs with a lifetime guarantee and a programmable RGB system for that price. If you ever convert to a motherboard with a green theme instead of a red color theme, you may adjust your DIMMs RGB LEDs to match. The TridentZ5 series DIMMs are a powerful product series aimed at a very specialized set of people: those who want the uber-fast things at the upper end of the range and with a niche-designed PC, then enthusiast-class PC gamer. The new DDR5 standard allows for greater frequencies at lower working voltages, but at the penalty of increased latencies. Given this, it makes it logical for G.Skill to provide a variety of DDR5 families and wide options to choose from. Purchase the Ripjaws S5 5200 MHz as a good starting point for fans seeking progressively higher performance, and for the enthusiasts and tweakers, the Tested CL32 6400 MHz TridentZ5 series. We'll stick to our earlier recommendations. 5,200MT/s at CL will be enough; CL 36, is certainly more suggested, and CL32 is fantastic but at a high expense. In terms of performance, G.Skill delivers a renowned kit that, in our opinion, is worth extra money over a similar-capacity 5,200MT/s set? Well, that's a question that only you the end-user can answer. Regardlessly, this is a fantastic memory kit to own.

    overclockers.com: G.Skill Trident Z5 RGB 48GB DDR5-7600 Memory Kit Review (translate)

G.Skill one more time has proven why it’s the top users’ choice. The 7600MT/s version of the Trident Z5 RGB is not the fastest memory kit on the market, but it gives us an outstanding balance between what we can really use and what we need for daily challenges. The higher capacity and high frequency are perfect for modern demanding games and a highly multi-threaded environment, which is often used at home. A high overclocking potential is just a cherry on top of one more exceptional memory kit, now also available with white heatsinks.

    eteknix.com: G.Skill Trident Z5 RGB DDR5 32GB (16GBx2) 6800 MHz Review (translate)

I said at the start of this review that G.Skill is well known for having some of the fastest and best high-performance memory in the world. Clearly, that is still very true, and while it didn’t come #1 in every benchmark when it comes to the raw read, write, copy and latency, it’s the fastest. When it comes to rendering, gaming and day-to-day usage, it’s going to deliver killer performance, and if you’re using flagship CPUs and GPUs, you’ll want fast memory like this to ensure you get the best performance. The build quality is as good as it gets here, with premium components and materials throughout. However, what really sets it apart is the design. Whoever sketched out the design for this memory really nailed it, but their engineers also built and crafted it to such a high standard, giving us one of the finest-looking sets of memory I’ve ever seen. RGB can often look a bit overdone and tacky on memory these days, but the slimmer lightbar doesn’t show down the whole side and is partially topped with metal that forms an S-shape on the spine. It really makes it look more stylish and designed, rather than just stuck on as an afterthought. I love that there is a good range of speeds available for this memory, with both Intel and AMD-optimised kits available too, so be sure you seek out the right version for your system. For most people, the 6000 MHz kit will likely be more than enough, and it’s a lot cheaper too! However, if you want the best of the best, the G.Skill Trident Z5 series has a lot to offer, so long as you’re willing to make the investment.

    techpowerup.com: G.SKILL Trident Z5 RGB DDR5-6800 CL34 2x 16 GB Review (translate)

In this review, we will be taking a closer look at the G.SKILL Trident Z5 RGB DDR5-6800 memory kit. Equipped with decent primary timings of 34-42-42-108 operating at 1.40 V for the 6800 MT/s X.M.P profile it brings higher bandwidth and considerable performance gains compared to the baseline JEDEC 4800 MT/s DDR5. Marketed towards PC enthusiasts, While it shares the same name as its predecessor, the memory kit reviewed today is strictly geared towards Intel Z790 based motherboards paired with 13th Generation Processors due to the high frequency XMP profile. Memory kit configurations for G.SKILL Trident Z5 include 32 GB (2x 16 GB) and 64 GB (2x 32 GB with binned frequencies ranging from 5200 MT/s to 8000 MT/s. With that out of the way, it's time to get into the review and do some heavy overclocking as well!

    guru3d.com: G.Skill TridentZ 5 DDR5 5600 CL36 review (translate)

The G.Skill kit that we checked provides a default frequency (5600 MHz) that will be enough for practically all users, and the XMP 3.0 profile makes life a lot easier. The stock performance is in a range of expected (very close to the high-end). There’s some headroom still available, so if you want more, you can try to overclock the memory even further. The reviewed kit on our Z690 platform made it possible to achieve 6200 MHz with CL36. It’s a great result; you need to remember that those are 16 GB modules. As we usually state – reproducibility is never guaranteed, and your results may vary. The low-profile heat spreader (42 mm), so you shouldn’t encounter any clearance problems with most air CPU coolers. The 32 GB option is a lot for most users nowadays. The price for this 2 x 16 GB kit is ~400 USD, which is expensive, but you need to remember that it’s high-end RAM and also from the (probably most) famous memory manufacturer. The current price for the DDR5s is very steep (mainly due to the shortage of the PMIC), and it still doesn’t look to be lower in the coming days. We can give G.Skill a “Guru3D Recommended” award for this very fast, overclockable, and capable kit. The only real downside (same as for the majority of the DDR5s) is the price that most users cannot accept for the moment, especially compared to the DDR4 kits, which don’t have much worse performance results (for now, at least compared to the current available DDR5 memories).
