Hyte Revolt 3

Fast könnte man denken, heute gäbe es nochmal ein Review zum NZXT H1, welches kürzlich eine überarbeitete Version bekommen hat. Aber Nein, hier geht es um das auf den ersten Blick ähnlich aussehende Revolt 3 Gehäuse von HYTE, einer Marke des Systemhändlers iBUYPOWER. Laut eigener Aussage möchte man „sein Engagement im DIY-Markt zeigen“. Also schauen wir uns mal an, wie sich das erste Gehäuse im Einzelhandel so schlägt! Kein anderes Mini-PC-Gehäuse kann mit einer 280-mm-AiO-Wasserkühlung und einer PCIe-Gen4-Grafikkarte hochkant ohne Riser-Band ausgestattet werden.

The Hyte REVOLT 3 is an innovative (at least in some ways), exciting, and attractive ITX chassis (yes, it’s possible without having the tempered glass panels). The measurements are 253 x 178 x 409 mm (L x W x H) with 18.4l capacity - focused on delivering high quality. The air cooler can be as high as 140 mm, but this chassis is aimed at the AIOs, as it’s possible to mount even up to 280 mm radiator (and it’s not typical for an ITX chassis). Revolt 3 manages to squeeze in a whole 3.5” drive along with two 2.5” drives, which makes for a good mix without losing any space for other essential components, like GPUs – as you can fit up to 335 mm long graphics card (with the width of maximum 140 mm). You can find the graphics card compatibility list on the product website. The cover on the end of the drive bay for both the storage device and SFX-L PSU cables results in no issues when attempting to cable manage or install a GPU. You get no fans here, and you can install, for example, two other 80 mm units at the top for aiming the GPU cooler. The installation of the parts went pretty smoothly, and the cable management is excellent, thanks to the custom cables provided for the included PSU (although one of the GPU power-related was barely enough to connect). The finished build looks very attractive. Front I/O includes USB Type-C. The build quality is excellent, but you probably would expect that for the price. Speaking of it – it is 129.99 USD for the chassis without the power supply; with it – you need to pay 199.99 USD (initially, it was 249.99 USD). That’s a relatively reasonable offer. It’s not the smallest ITX chassis, but with such features as a carrying handle or the headphones holders – you get a very attractive and thought-out chassis. In conclusion - we grant the “Recommended” award, and we applaud Hyte for bringing innovation to the (ITX) case market (although the Y60 was also an excellent addition for the ATX).

You could almost think that today there would be another review of the NZXT H1, which recently got a revised version, but no, this is about the Revolt 3 case from HYTE, a brand of the system dealer iBUYPOWER, which looks similar at first glance. According to their own statement, they want to “show their commitment to the DIY market.” So let’s take a look at how the first case performs at retail!

If you haven’t heard of HYTE it is a new brand from iBUYPOWER which is focused on lifestyle and PC components. Their first product is the Revolt 3, which is a mini-ITX case. The Revolt 3 is made to be the ultimate mini-ITX case with ventilated panels on each side, support for graphics cards up to 335 mm, radiators up to 280mm, and even a handle at the top to take it with you to your friends house or a LAN party. HYTE is definitely out to make a name for themselves, can they do it with the Revolt 3? Read on as we find out!

Overall, the HYTE Revolt 3 is an excellent compact and functional ITX case HYTE clearly geared towards the liquid-cooling crowd. It may not push the envelope for being the absolutely smallest case, but manages to strike an excellent balance between accommodating potent hardware, big cooling, and a good mix of storage without any compromise while adding some really unique elements to the mix.

The HYTE Revolt 3 is a premium mITX chassis that packs a lot of features in a super-compact footprint. It doesn’t have the fancy RGB lighting or glass side panels, but it provides a highly mobile, competent chassis for nearly any build. Air cooling is slightly limited due to the maximum CPU cooler height of 140 mm but makes up for this with the ability to house 240 mm or 280 mm AIO water coolers. The tool-less side panels make working in the chassis much easier than other mITX cases I’ve worked in, and the cable management system is excellent. The convenience of the stowaway carrying handle and headset posts are a welcomed addition. Finally, the Revolt 3’s ability to house a 3-slot GPU means you can install some of the largest GPUs on the market today. For an mITX chassis, that’s a bold statement.
