The HYTE Y40, released after the very successful Revolt 3 and Y60, is the mid size offering of the brand. It’s a fish tank style case with minimal footprint, support for large components and great aesthetics.

For those wanting their PC to not only perform great, but also look great, it really is the best of both worlds. The price is competitive, but the value seems higher when you see the attention to detail on the design, build quality and functionality, it feels more custom than most cases in its stock configuration, and that really is impressive.

Just like the Y60 the Y40 offers something relatively new to consumers, a panoramic view of the interior which combined with the vertical GPU slot (and the PCIe 4.0 riser cable) makes for a rather unique result. For good or bad the Y40 with its 50 litre interior space is not worlds apart with its larger brother the Y60 and its 60 litre interior space so that is something that may “push” some consumers to the larger model (it’s not much of a difference in size after all – price is another story). Build quality is good and as for the fact that HYTE makes the Y40 available in 4 colors again that’s not something we see a lot in this market. The two pre-installed fans may not look as much but they do well in terms of airflow, at least in such a small PC case and as for the only drive tray well it shouldn’t be an issue, not with the majority of users.

HYTE may be relatively new to the market, but their product range keeps continually expanding. The initial HYTE Y60 launch managed to impress with its unique design and details all around. As such, the HYTE Y40 which we are reviewing today, should be quite the interesting, smaller option for those who love the looks, but crave a case with a smaller footprint. Available in three colors - white, black and red, we received the red HYTE Y40 for this review. Oddly enough, the Y60 got its model number from the fact that it is a 60 L case. While the Y40 is a 50 L one, as such one would have expected it to be called Y50, but here we are.

This time, we’re checking out the Hyte Y40, a mainly aesthetic-oriented mid-sized ATX tower PC chassis. It’s not the first product from this American (precisely – California) company. They debuted with an ITX case called Revolt 3, which gained good opinions around the websites (and we got a chance to cover on October 22), and a chassis called Y60, which we checked in mid-2022.
