Motorola One Macro

Mit seinem Fokus auf Nahaufnahmen will sich das Motorola One Macro einen Platz in der Nische sichern. Das schicke Äußere gefällt schon mal, ob das Smartphone auch im Alltag überzeugt, das erfahren Sie im Test.

The Motorola One Macro is the first non-Chinese budget phone I’ve been excited about in a while. The software experience and everyday performance is superb, meaning the user experience is among the best in recent memory. Compromises are inevitable at this price point, and the slightly erratic cameras and uninspiring front of the phone knock it down a few points. As such, other options in our best budget smartphone chart offer a more complete package, but there are few better phones if you’re looking for stock Android under £200.

The Motorola Moto One Macro delivers the goods if fast performance and a clean software build are all you crave. However, the quality of the materials and imaging performance just don't match the high-end experiences offered by competing devices.

The Macro should be seen for what it is: a budget handset with a big battery life and fuss-free software. Buy it for the cameras and you'll be disappointed, though, which is somewhat a contradition to the name. Yes, it can do close-up shots, but we'd rather spend a little extra, shelve the macro stuff, and buy the better-specified Moto G8 Plus instead.

The Moto One Macro has a great design, dependable battery, a good screen, nice software and a reasonable chipset. It is a very well thought-out device - but its main attraction, the macro camera, is a big let-down.
