MSI Radeon RX 6900 XT

It would appear that AMD has bagged another victory for itself. The AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT is not only great in performance but also has really good pricing. That is, of course, limited to the reference cards. We're yet to see how AIBs will price their SKUs in the coming weeks, Performance is at par and sometimes even better than the RTX 3090 but the new RDNA2 cards don't have great OpenGL performance. Not that a lot of video games use OpenGL these days, but folks interested in the GPGPU performance might be a bit disappointed with the same. And lastly, there's the ray-tracing benchmark which pegs the RX 6900 XT a little behind the RTX 3090. Visually, they don't seem that far apart so that's fine in our books. For a price of INR 94,388, the AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT is a great 4K gaming card.

The Radeon RX 6900 XT is now AMD's fastest GPU. However, it's only incrementally faster than the RX 6800 XT, making the $1,000 asking price a tough sell.

The fantastic Radeon RX 6900 XT goes toe-to-toe with Nvidia's GeForce RTX 3090 for $500 less, but doesn't carve out a strong position for itself. Most pure gamers should opt for the Radeon RX 6800 XT instead, while content creators and performance enthusiasts might find the 3090 more compelling.

The RX 6900 XT is a very competent graphics card that offers top-notch 4K gaming and features plenty of headroom for overclocking. But its price and lack of DLSS put it a step behind its Nvidia rival in a couple of key areas, including ray tracing.

After getting our first look at RDNA 2 when the RX 6800 XT and RX 6800 both launched on November 18th, today our attention turns to AMD’s new flagship GPU – the RX 6900 XT. Priced at $999, or £899.99 here in the UK, the RX 6900 XT comes with 80 Compute Units, giving a total of 5120 stream processors. Designed to take the fight to Nvidia in the ultra high-end market, let’s find out if this GPU really is the RTX 3090 killer.

The Radeon RX 6900 XT was never going to make sense, not unlike the GeForce RTX 3090, even though Nvidia's card does get you a lot more VRAM. Essentially, the Radeon RX 6900 XT is the same as a 6800 XT with a few extra cores enabled for a ~5-10% performance boost.
