The Outer Worlds

The Outer Worlds is the best RPG of its kind in 2019, combining New Vegas and KOTOR in one. If you like Obsidian games, this one's for you.

While it bears surface-level similarities to Fallout: New Vegas, Obsidian's created a deeper and more meaningful role-playing experience in The Outer Worlds, though it can still be frustratingly old-fashioned in regards to combat and exploration.

The Outer Worlds is essentially trying to appeal to a very specific niche, and you probably know if you’re in it. The good news is, it really does deliver on what it promises.

The Outer Worlds is consistently compelling throughout, and it's a superb example of how to promote traditional RPG sensibilities in a sharp, modern experience.

With The Outer Worlds, Obsidian has found its own path in the space between Bethesda and BioWare's RPGs, and it’s a great one.

Despite some nominal issues that might be easier for some to hand-wave than others, Obsidian has out-Fallouted recent Fallout efforts. The Outer Worlds is more limited from a size standpoint compared to a lot of other open world adventures, but it makes up for it in charm and a succinct vision without much bloat.

The Outer Worlds finds inspiring success despite some rough edges, much like the team of space-faring adventurers it follows.

The Outer Worlds is the game that fans have wanted Obsidian Entertainment to make for the better part of a decade. The story is the main attraction here, with Obsidian's witty writing coming to the fore in an interesting and funny interstellar setting. If that's what you look for in your RPGs, The Outer Worlds will not disappoint.

The Outer Worlds on Nintendo Switch is a passable iteration of Obsidian Entertainment's excellent RPG, but arguably makes too many sacrifices to allow for a comfortable transition to the portable platform.

Everything has been scaled back in an effort to get it working as smoothly as possible on the machine, but there are still major problems with how the game performs. Even so, I found myself still having a lot of fun playing The Outer Worlds on the Nintendo Switch, which is a testament to just how brilliant this game truly is.

Obsidian's spacefaring RPG is full of great characters and layered questlines, but technical limitations make combat suffer on the Switch.

Murder on Eridanos schneidet besser ab als sein Vorgänger Peril on Gorgon – alleine schon aufgrund der Aufteilung in verschiedene Inseln im Himmel (die ein wenig an Skies of Arcadia erinnern) wird dem Spieler eine bessere Übersicht als im letzten DLC gegeben.

The Outer Worlds: Murder on Eridanos isn't a grand finale for Obsidian's RPG, but it gives us an intriguing whodunnit in a new location and a reason to return for another adventure with the crew of the Unreliable.

The Outer Worlds’ Murder on Eridanos DLC is the epitome of a mixed bag. For all of its high points, there are flaws and missteps which keep it from reaching the heights it otherwise could have. There’s still fun to be had with it, but any who go into the expansion should be ready for some headaches in equal measure.

Man kann sagen, dass es sich bei diesem DLC um eine klassische Erweiterung handelt – also mehr von demselben – und wem dies gefällt, der wird mit den zusätzlichen zehn Stunden Spielzeit (lange Ladezeiten eingerechnet) seine Freude haben, doch wer sich mit Peril on Gorgon einen neuen Schliff in Richtung Gameplay oder Storytelling gewünscht hätte, wird seine Erwartungen leider nicht erfüllt sehen.
