Boya Magic-03

The Boya Magic is an immense package for those wanting one microphone that has the potential to do it all. Its pickup in every mode, from desktop to lapel, was clean and full-bodied with clever AI noise rejection to keep your voice heard. The overall package is also small and travel-friendly. It's just a few little misgivings at this price, such as the shorter wireless range and average battery life. For £90 / $90, I can forgive them, though.

With a product that can do so much, it’s reasonable to expect compromises in some areas, but whether you’re using the Boya Magic as a lavalier, on-camera, handheld or desktop mic, it does a great job. It’s an incredibly easy-to-use microphone kit with a useful app for adjusting settings, while the noise cancellation is fantastic; you can confidently record sound in noisy environments without fear of voice distortion.

With an incomparable range of uses and the most unique design that give function and fashion equal weight, the BOYA Magic is the very definition of a creative solution for a creative industry.

The key marketing point of the Boya Magic’s press release is that it can be configured into a lavalier, desktop, handheld, and shoe-mounted DSLR mic. Four mic configurations for a very affordable price. While the kit’s shape-shifting property is indeed impressive, I was even more impressed by the Boya Magic’s AI-powered noise-cancelling feature. Finally, I could record on location without being at the mercy of unwanted background noise such as chainsaws and overhead planes. Unlike other mics that use AI noise cancellation, there was negligible distortion in my voice. This is indeed magic, as you can now record anywhere without waiting for background noise to subside.
