Cooler Master ist mit der MM731 ein guter Wurf gelungen. Die in schwarz oder weiß erhältliche Maus funktioniert tadellos, der Sensor wie auch die Schalter sind sehr gut, Gewicht und Form wissen zu gefallen. Kritik an der Hardware selbst, gibt es von uns an dieser Stelle nicht.

Mit MM731 ist Cooler Master im Grunde eine schicke Lightweight-Maus gelungen, die gänzlich ohne das umstrittene Gitter-Gehäuse auskommt. Ein großes Ärgernis ist zum Testzeitpunkt allerdings die Software MasterPlus, welche noch sehr fehleranfällig ist.

Die Cooler Master MM731 ist eine auf blitzschnelle Reaktionen ausgelegt Maus. Jede Eigenschaft ist genau dafür optimiert und das alles bei einem geringen Gesamtgewicht von gerade einmal 59 g. Und was direkt auffällt, es wurde kein Gehäuse mit Löchern dafür verwendet.

Cooler Master’s MM731 mouse is a very light mouse with many different connectivity options. The battery life isn’t too bad and should last more than a week in most cases. Since it is an ultra light weight mouse, I can understand the battery life being below average for most wireless mice, however, that is a trade-off which many can accept. The form factor while dated for some allows the MM731 to be used in professional settings without looking out of place. A nice feature regarding the MM731 is that you can use the Mouse Combo option to add functionality to the existing buttons allowing you to have up to 11 different functions within a single profile. The MM731 feels mostly well built for its price point and its target audience, though some items on the MM731 feel cheap such as the plastic door for the wireless adapter. The color motif for the white version of the MM731 was not fully implemented with the wireless adapter and the USB C to USB Type B adapter as they are both black which makes it feel as if you cobbled some parts from other vendors when they’re used. The inclusion of RGB lighting is very minimal on the MM731 which can be a good thing in professional settings, or can seem like a pointless addition since you won’t be able to see the LED if you are using the mouse. However, it can be useful to see what profile you are currently in. Lastly, the software for the MM731 feels unpolished. Since last reviewing another Cooler Master product that also used the MasterPlus+, I’ve seen some improvements and fixes.

Alright, what's the verdict then? If one can deal with the fact that the MM731 merely performs very well instead of excellent, one gets a genuinely good mouse that does a lot of things right and is priced appropriately at $89.99. Right now, there are more right-handed ergonomic wireless mice to choose from than ever before. While the MM731 is neither the best nor the most affordable of them, it combines several traits that are either not present at all or not done as well on its many competitors. Accordingly, it is worth more than just a look and rightfully earns our Recommended award. In fact, had the MM731 released in its current state, it may even have gotten an Editor's Choice. On that note, I do hope the MM731 gets the recognition it deserves at last, and we'll get to see more of this design in the future.
