MSI GeForce RTX 3070 Gaming X Trio, 8GB GDDR6, HDMI, 3x DP

Für den Launch der Boardpartner-Designs der kleineren Ampere-Karten mit dem GA104 steht mir heute eine MSI RTX 3070 Gaming X Trio 8GB zur Verfügung, die MSI zudem mit einer UVP von 559 Euro incl. der MwSt. einpreist. Was sich dann der Handel aber wirklich genehmigt, wird sich wohl auch nach der Verfügbarkeit und dem Angebot an Mitbewerber-Grafikkarten richten. Hier sei auch noch einmal an AMD erinnert, wobei die kleinere Radeon RX 6800 bereits als Referenzkarte eine deutlich höhere UVP aufweist. Es wird also spannend. NVIDIA hat geliefert, nun müssen die Boardpartner das Beste daraus machen.

Nachdem wir uns vor zwei Tagen die Founders Edition der GeForce RTX 3070 angeschaut haben , folgen heute die ersten Custom-Modelle. Diese unterscheiden sich vor allem hinsichtlich des Taktes, Power-Limits und in der Kühlung. Wo die Vor- und Nachteile der einzelnen Modelle liegen, schauen wir uns auf den nun folgenden Seiten an.

Both the MSI RTX 3070 Gaming X Trio and Asus RTX 3070 TUF Gaming OC are expected to arrive at around $560, which is a 12% markup from MSRP. This seems reasonable given how much cooler and quieter they run when compared to the Founders Edition board, which may only sell at the MSRP for little while and then disappear forever in traditional FE fashion. Asus has suggested that the base RTX 3070 TUF Gaming (the non-OC version) will start at $530 which seems like a better deal as you can just overclock yourself if you care about getting that extra 1-3 FPS. MSI will offer the Ventus 2X OC at the $500 MSRP, but of course, that won’t compare to the Gaming X Trio's cooling capabilities. All in all, both Asus and MSI offerings are solid contenders though we're leaning towards the Asus TUF in this comparison as it includes an all-aluminum design and most crucially, a dual BIOS option.

MSI's Gaming X Trio is one of the best custom-cooled RTX 3070s available, but stock levels are anything but decent.

The latest Nvidia cards have been in the news for a lot of reasons over the last few weeks, with consumer demand far ahead of the supply chain. Of course, we’re sure that’ll improve over the coming weeks and months, but I suspect the RTX 3070 is about to be even more popular than the RTX 3080 launch. Promising performance that can rival that of the RTX 2080 and even the RTX 2080 Ti, at a much more affordable price tag. While the MSI Gaming X TRIO is likely one of the most high-end and expensive RTX 3070 we’ll see this launch, it’s also likely going to be one of the fastest, and still much better value vs the RTX 2000 series cards.
