Mit der GeForce RTX 3090 Ti reizt NVIDIA die Ampere-Architektur vollends aus. Die GA102-GPU kommt im Vollausbau bei einem Power-Limit von 450 W zum Einsatz. Hinzu kommen wie auch schon bei der GeForce RTX 3090 24 GB an GDDR6X-Speicher, die sicherlich für den ein oder anderen Spieler wichtig sind, die ihre Stärken aber wohl auch im Workstation-Segment haben. Wir haben uns die GeForce RTX 3090 Ti im Hinblick auf die Workstation-Leistung angeschaut und vergleichen gegen die stärkste Karte mit halb so großem Speicher sowie das schnellste Gaming-Modell von AMD.

Eigentlich hatten ja alle die Ampere-Generation bereits abgehakt, doch dann kam die CES 2022 und Jensen mit der GeForce RTX 3090 Ti. Über den Sinn oder Unsinn dieser Karte im Vollausbau des GA102 und der hochenergetische Umsetzung kann man wirklich trefflich streiten, aber sie existiert und möchte auch gern getestet und bewertet werden. Wobei diese Karte bereits eine Art Sonderstellung im Übergang zur nächsten Generation einnimmt. Es ist nämlich eine Karte, die NVIDIA völlig ohne Not launcht, denn die Mitbewerber haben schon an der GeForce RTX 3090 Ti zu knabbern. Wozu dann also so ein Monster, das den Spagat zwischen Brechstange und Mehrwert erst einmal hinbekommen muss?

MSI's RTX 3090 Ti Suprim X is the pinnacle of partner cards sporting excellent cooling and a robust VRM, it's one of the more exciting partner card offerings, even at $2199.

I have spent the last 48 hours working pretty much 36-40 hours of that benchmarking a huge amount of GPUs -- including the new MSI GeForce RTX 3090 Ti SUPRIM X -- writing, taking and editing photos, and everything in between.

Actually, everyone had already checked off the Ampere generation, but then came CES 2022 and Jensen with the GeForce RTX 3090 Ti. One can really argue about the sense or nonsense of this card in the full version of the GA102 and the high-energy implementation, but it exists and would like to be tested and evaluated. And while we are at it, this card already has a kind of special position in the transition to the next generation. It is in fact a card that NVIDIA launches completely without need, because the competitors already have to nibble at the GeForce RTX 3090. So what’s the point of such a monster, which first has to manage the balancing act between crowbar and added value?
