OnePlus Nord 2 256GB Gray Sierra

The Nord 2 makes a strong case for itself. The Dimensity 1200-AI chipset is one of the most powerful you’ll find for the price, the understated design remains appealing, and the main camera will outclass most rivals. While Xiaomi and Realme may deliver better value on paper, the OxygenOS software experience still gives OnePlus an undeniable edge.

Thanks to the Dimensity 1200, the Nord 2 is significantly faster than its predecessor. The 50MP camera does a better job with photos and videos, and you get a vibrant 90Hz AMOLED screen along with 65W fast charging. OxygenOS 11.3 is based on ColorOS, but the UI itself is still clean and bloat-free. As an overall package, the Nord 2 is one of the best you'll find in the mid-range segment right now.

The OnePlus Nord 2 does a bang-up job of bridging the gap between the OnePlus 9 and the brand's budget phones, but comes with the same-old trappings of OnePlus' lackluster imaging. It's a good phone backed by well-optimized software (camera aside) but doesn't do much to truly differentiate itself. It’s a good mid-ranger in a world of great budget phones.

OnePlus has again produced a phone that offers so much for a handset of its price that you may struggle to believe the specs sheet. It's just a pity that it's still not coming to the United States.

The OnePlus Nord 2 5G is a more affordable alternative to the OnePlus 9. It looks and feels just as good, gaming performance is strong and even the camera is no clean sweep for the OnePlus 9, as the Nord 2 offers better selfies and cleaner night images. However, battery life disappoints.

The OnePlus Nord 2 5G fills a gap between cheap and expensive with a price point that's reasonable and features that are well worth having a look at. The camera is capable of capturing some great photos with the night mode and the bokeh produced when capturing portraits having to be two of the camera app's standout features. For those who think the inexpensive smartphones that are currently available just don't perform well but, on the other hand, premium smartphones are way too expensive, the OnePlus Nord 2 5G will be a sensible middle ground.
