Roccat Kone Pro Ash Black, USB

Gleich zwei leichte Neuzugänge ergänzen Roccats Kone-Serie. Beide überzeugen im Test, kommen aber ohne zwei sonst übliche Tasten aus.

Over the years, ROCCAT has established a reputation for producing mice with impeccable build quality and incredibly solid internals. The Kone Pro is no exception in this regard. Despite weighing just 64 g, not resorting to external holes, and being a medium-size mouse, the Kone Pro is impressively well built. On my copy, I wasn't able to actuate the side buttons by applying lateral pressure at all, the shell doesn't flex, and there is virtually no creaking. Much like on previous ROCCAT releases, the scroll wheel is very good, and provides tactile scrolling with clearly discernible steps. The side buttons are positioned well, not as large as on the Burst Pro and Burst Core, and their response is snappy and firm.

The Roccat Kone Pro is a very comfortable ergonomic mouse with a unique look and shape that’s more considerate of the ring and pinky fingers than most rivals. Its mundane plastic can easily attract moisture, dust and fingerprints. But once you download the mouse’s software, there’s a lot of programmability.

Roccat has really nailed the details on this one. It’s a fan service, in that it’s the same classic shape they’ve produced for over ten years now. However, it’s just a little more refined, it’s better made, it uses more premium materials, and it’s just overall a better product. Add to that some killer hardware for class-leading performance, and honestly, you’ll be hard pushed to find anything better for the same money.

Roccat is one of the hottest brands out there when it comes to PC gaming peripherals, they’ve delivered some of my all-time favourite gaming mice over the years, and I’m happy to report they’ve done it again. The only thing that throws me is that it doesn’t quite feel like a Roccat mouse to me, but that’s mostly down to how freaking light it is when I’ve always known Roccat for their tank-like over-engineering. That being said, this is still a very robust and well-made mouse, and that is certainly impressive.
