The Z Fold 8 is a truly exciting phone that feels different from anything I have used before. The 4:3 aspect ratio of the main display has lots of benefits, and as ever, Samsung’s software, build quality and support promise are among the best. It’s not perfect, though; the lack of a telephoto camera stings, and the cover display, in particular, creates some challenges, especially when used with one hand. It won’t be for everyone, but many are sure to fall in love with this device.

Samsung finally cracked the foldable formula I’ve been waiting years for, and after a week with the Galaxy Z Fold 8, I’m not sure I want to go back to a regular phone. This is the foldable that makes the case for the entire category.

The Galaxy Z Fold 8 feels like a turning point for Samsung’s foldables, trading pure productivity for a lighter, more practical design that’s genuinely enjoyable day to day. It has compromises, especially around cameras, sustained performance and battery life, but it’s still the Samsung foldable I’d choose.

I thoroughly tested the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and I feel like this could be the new form factor to beat for foldables. It’s compact and light yet delivers a big screen when you want it. I especially appreciate the anti-reflective coating and that the crease is less noticeable. Add in strong performance and longer battery life and you have a foldable phone winner for the most part. But I wish Samsung included a telephoto camera, and the lack of dust resistance at this point is getting annoying.
