Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Enterprise Edition 256GB graphite

The Galaxy Z Fold 8 is the most compelling folding phone we’ve tested, thanks to its superb picture quality, more durable and uniform display, and new content-friendly aspect ratio

The Z Fold 8 is a truly exciting phone that feels different from anything I have used before. The 4:3 aspect ratio of the main display has lots of benefits, and as ever, Samsung’s software, build quality and support promise are among the best. It’s not perfect, though; the lack of a telephoto camera stings, and the cover display, in particular, creates some challenges, especially when used with one hand. It won’t be for everyone, but many are sure to fall in love with this device.

Samsung finally cracked the foldable formula I’ve been waiting years for, and after a week with the Galaxy Z Fold 8, I’m not sure I want to go back to a regular phone. This is the foldable that makes the case for the entire category.

The Galaxy Z Fold 8 feels like a turning point for Samsung’s foldables, trading pure productivity for a lighter, more practical design that’s genuinely enjoyable day to day. It has compromises, especially around cameras, sustained performance and battery life, but it’s still the Samsung foldable I’d choose.

I thoroughly tested the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and I feel like this could be the new form factor to beat for foldables. It’s compact and light yet delivers a big screen when you want it. I especially appreciate the anti-reflective coating and that the crease is less noticeable. Add in strong performance and longer battery life and you have a foldable phone winner for the most part. But I wish Samsung included a telephoto camera, and the lack of dust resistance at this point is getting annoying.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 sets a new standard for book-style foldables by pairing a squatter, video-friendly inner display with excellent battery life, quick performance, and genuinely helpful AI features, making it the foldable to beat.

The Galaxy Z Fold8 is the first of a new breed of book-style foldable that excels at entertainment. You’ll pay an awful lot for it, though, and not every app plays nicely with the compact outer screen

Much as the Galaxy Z Fold 8's passport-sized form could have proved a floundering move for Samsung, it's opened new borders – and represents the future of foldables. The high asking price and limited camera setup remain hurdles, mind, but in terms of practicality, core hardware and raw power, Samsung has delivered a new kind of folding phone experience that feels as fresh and fun as it does established and mature.

After seven generations, Samsung made a huge change to its flagship foldable phone this year: It split the line into two devices. Sitting at the very top is the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, which looks and feels like a more refined version of last year's handset. And then there's the base Z Fold 8, which to my pleasant surprise, has stolen the spotlight from its more expensive sibling. By borrowing elements from its own back catalog of devices, while also cribbing traits from rivals, Samsung has created a wider, squatter device that combines the best aspects of a smartphone and a small tablet in a single gadget.
